More information
The Motorola DP4801 EX is a high performance digital safety radio designed for use in the toughest and most hazardous industrial environments. It meets ATEX protection standards, which set electrical equipment protocols for environments where there is an explosion risk from combustible gas and dust, and provides an enhanced range of safety alert features to provide operatives with added peace of mind.
At the same time, the DP4801 EX is built on Motorola’s cutting edge MOTOTRBO digital technology and delivers exceptional two way radio performance. A full screen model, it offers crystal clear audio whatever the levels of background noise, a comprehensive range of communication options and data integration.
The DP4801 EX is designed for use in heavy processing industries, in mining and extraction operations, in petrochemical refineries and chemical plants. From offshore rigs to pipelines, deep shaft mines to gas terminals, the DP4801 EX provides high levels of protection against immediate risks.
In accordance with ATEX standards, DP4801 EX handsets are explosion proof and operate at reduced surface temperatures. They are enclosed against dust ingress and to negate potential ignition from electrical sparks. Critically, they are rated as safe to use around highly volatile gases including hydrogen and methane, and are certified for use underground.
In addition, each device meets tough military-grade standards for resistance to thermal shock and humidity, and is rated to the IP67 standard for water protection, meaning a handset can withstand being fully submerged.
The DP4801 EX comes with a range of safety alert functions, including an enlarged emergency button for convenient use, Man Down fall alarm and Lone Worker remote monitoring. It also has built-in GPS, helping to locate every user on the network – so if an alarm is issued, the whereabouts of the colleague in question can be pinpointed quickly.
Enlarged control buttons are intended to make operation easier whilst wearing gloves, and the large colour display provides clear visibility on radio status and channel information even in dark environments. The DP4801 EX also provides extended battery life, up to 19 hours, so there is no danger of the handset losing power even on the longest shifts.
Backed up by MOTOTRBO technology, the DP4801 EX delivers outstanding audio quality, with advanced noise suppression and intelligent audio control ensuring messages can be heard loud and clear in all environments, whatever the volume of background noise. MOTOTRBO solutions also offer the potential to expand the number of radio users on the network to well in excess of 1000, as well as integrate networks across multiple sites to improve communication and coordination across the largest operations.
