More information
The DP4401 EX is part of Motorola’s professional range of digital ATEX safety radios. Designed for use in challenging, volatile environments, the DP4401 EX meets stringent protection standards and includes a range of modifications aimed at providing convenient, safe use in hazardous circumstances.
In a wide range of industrial settings such oil rigs, chemical plants, petrochemical terminals, mining operations and more, ignition of combustible dust or gas from electrical equipment is a high risk. ATEX is a Europe-wide safety standard which equipment used in these environments must meet, and includes contingencies such as lower operating temperatures and the use of protective casings.
The Motorola DP4401 Ex is a non-display digital two way radio which meets the highest ATEX gas explosion group rating. Each handset is also fully IP67 rated to withstand any water damage and dust and exceeds the required standards for robustness and durability. The protections against gas, water and dust make them a world class solution for use in a wide range of heavy industrial settings, from working outdoors in rough weather on the open seas to operating deep underground in hot, dusty mining environments.
With safety to the fore, each DP4401 Ex handset comes with Man Down and Lone Worker features installed as standard. Man Down uses an accelerometer to detect unusual movements, triggering an alarm in the event of a fall or if the radio’s user stops moving. Lone Worker is a monitoring mechanism which requires operators to check back in with colleagues at fixed intervals if they are working alone.
As well as these alert features, the DP4401 EX also comes with integrated GPS to enable location tracking. This is particularly important in the event of an alarm be sounded by a radio user on a large site, so colleagues can pinpoint their whereabouts quickly.
DP4401 EX handsets are designed to be easy to use even in cramped, dark environments. As many industrial workers wear gloves, they have extra large push-to-talk and programmable buttons, as well as an oversized channel select knob, for extra convenience.
Based of Mototola’s groundbreaking MOTOTRBO digital two way radio technology, this model delivers outstanding performance as well as the highest standards of durability, reliability and safety protections. The DP4401 EX delivers long-range network coverage for use on the largest sites and boasts superior digitally enhanced audio, with noise filters ensuring interference from industrial machinery and vehicles is cleaned out of the signal so operatives can always hear one another, no matter where they are using their handset.
