It has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and meets US military standards 810 C, D, E, F & G for durability against shocks and vibrations.

With a front profile of just 100mm x 56mm, the DP3661 manages to pack in a high quality speaker, a five line colour display which can handle text messages up to 200 characters, and a small key pad including programmable buttons and a navigation pad. There are further programmable buttons on the side, which can be used to create one touch access to favourite functions, plus a Push-To-Talk button

On the top of the unit, alongside a compact antenna and on/off/volume adjustment knob, there is a channel selector and a prominent Emergency Button.

Bluetooth 4.0 can be linked to beacons to enable indoor location tracking, while the handset supports multi constellation satellite navigation, including GPS, for highly accurate wide area location tracking.
